Sewer Rodding & Repair

Sewer Line Maintenance

A sewer line cleanout is a vertical pipe that has one end connected to the lateral sewer line that runs underground connecting a residential home or commercial building to the public sewer line. The other end of this vertical pipe extends to the ground surface where it is capped. Regular maintenance on sewers is essential to ensure that they continue to function properly and avoid costly repairs.

Here are some reasons why you should keep up with maintenance on sewers:

  • Prevent backups: Sewers can become clogged with debris, tree roots, and other materials that can cause backups and overflows. Regular maintenance can help prevent these blockages from occurring and keep your sewer system flowing smoothly.
  • Detect problems early: By performing regular inspections and maintenance, we can detect problems early before they become major issues. Catching problems early can help you avoid costly repairs or even complete replacement of your sewer system.
  • Protect the environment: A malfunctioning sewer system can have a negative impact on the environment by causing sewage backups and contaminating water sources. Regular maintenance can help prevent these issues and protect the environment.
  • Protect your health: Sewage backups and overflows can create a health hazard for you and your family.
  • RootX®: Another way to prevent sewer clogs and backups is by using RootX®. The patented RootX® formula foams in contact with water to reach the top of the pipe where 90% of the roots are. Degreasing agents strip away grime so the RootX® herbicide can penetrate the roots, killing them on contact. RootX® sticks to the pipe walls, preventing re-growth for up to three years. Dead roots decay over time, restoring pipes to their full capacity.

    Sewer Line Repair

Sewer repairs can be necessary when the sewer system experiences damage, blockages, or malfunctions. It’s important to address sewer problems as soon as they’re noticed to avoid more significant and costly repairs in the future. Here at Leonard J Brown Plumbing, our highly skilled, experienced and professional technicians are ready to get your sewer running effectually.  Here are some common sewer repairs:

    • Sewer line replacement: This is a significant repair that may be necessary if the sewer line is damaged or deteriorated. The replacement involves removing the old sewer pipe and installing a new pipe. Some old homes have clay sewer piping that can have root intrusions that cause major backups.
    • Sewer line repair: This repair addresses cracks, breaks, or damaged joints in the sewer line. Depending on the severity of the damage, the sewer line repair can involve replacing a section of the sewer pipe.
    • Installing an outside cleanout: Some homes do not have an outside cleanout causing us to bring the rodding machine into your home to rod from a floor drain or a toilet. Having an outside cleanout, allows us to properly clear the sewer of roots and debris by allowing the use of a full-size sewer cutter to clean the pipe.
